What does the captain control in FC 26 Pro Clubs?
Nobody hands you a position in the FC 26 lobby. You highlight a vacant one and the screen tells you how well your build fits it, in four grades, before you commit to the match.

Perfect Fit, Good Fit, Okay Fit, Bad Fit. Highlight any vacant spot on the lobby pitch and the screen grades your Archetype against it before you commit to the match.
The lobby grades you, the captain sets the shape
Two different jobs get confused here. A captain picks the tactic, and the tactic is what decides which positions and roles exist on the lobby pitch. Which of those vacant positions you stand in is your own choice, made in the lobby, and the screen tells you how well your build suits each one first.
EA grades the fit in four steps. Perfect Fit means your Archetype matches both the role and the position. Good Fit means the position is right and the role is not ideal. Okay Fit means your Archetype suits neither of them particularly, and Bad Fit is the plain one: out of position.
Your OVR moves with the shirt
Highlighting a vacant position also shows your Archetype OVR for that position. One build, two numbers, depending on where you stand.
Use it before an argument rather than during one. When a club is a body short and somebody has to fill in, the lobby will tell you which of you loses least by moving, and that is a faster conversation than four people guessing in chat.
Being out of position costs less this year
EA says the negative impact of being out of position was drastically reduced in FC 26, and that more positions and higher role ratings are available from launch than there were before. Players can also go past the fourth position, which used to be the wall.
So filling in at left-back for one game is no longer the disaster it was treated as. It is still worse than the position you built for, and the lobby will say so in four words before you accept it.
The Assignments tab is where a captain actually decides things
FC 26 added eight set piece assignments to that tab. Five jobs now exist at an attacking corner, four more at a defensive one, and a throw-in taker can be nominated for each side of the pitch.
Those assignments are the closest thing Clubs has to a captain telling people where to stand. Everything else about a match is decided by whoever is holding the controller for that player.
One budget, two claims on it
Facilities changed shape. AI Facilities arrived in FC 26 and they draw from the same budget as Player Facilities, so a club improving its AI teammates is spending money its members will not see.
The AI side has a rule worth knowing before you spend: those upgrades are attribute increases only, and they are grouped by position. One group trains your forwards, another trains your goalkeeper. A club whose members all play midfield gets nothing from paying for AI strikers.
EA has not published which member ranks are allowed to spend the budget. Anybody handing you an exact permissions table for a Clubs squad is going past what EA has said.
The Match Status Widget
A panel in the redesigned lobby that reports live. It carries updates from matches already in progress and the state of Clubs League matchmaking or a Friendly Challenge request.
Small feature, real use. It answers the question every lobby asks out loud every twenty minutes, which is whether the queue is actually moving or whether somebody needs to back out and start it again.
Questions people ask
- Does the captain choose your position in FC 26 Clubs?
- You take a vacant position on the lobby pitch yourself. The captain sets the tactic those positions come from, and the lobby grades how well your Archetype suits each one before you pick.
- What do the Role Fit grades mean?
- There are four. Perfect Fit is your Archetype in the right role and the right position. Good Fit is the right position in a role that is not ideal. Okay Fit suits neither much, and Bad Fit means out of position.
- Does your OVR change with the position you pick?
- Yes. Highlight a vacant position in the lobby and the screen shows your Archetype OVR for that position, so one build reads as two different numbers in two different shirts.
- How much does playing out of position hurt in FC 26?
- Less than it used to. EA says the penalty for being out of position was drastically reduced this year, and that more positions and higher role ratings are available from launch than in FC 25.
- Who controls the Facilities budget in a club?
- EA has not published which member ranks can spend it. What EA does say is that the budget is now shared between Player Facilities and AI Facilities, so every upgrade to your AI teammates is one your members do not get.
- What is the Match Status Widget?
- A lobby panel that reports live. It carries updates from matches already in progress and the state of Clubs League matchmaking or a Friendly Challenge request, so nobody has to ask whether the queue is moving.
- Where do you assign set piece takers?
- In the Assignments tab. FC 26 added eight assignments there, covering attacking corners, defending corners and a taker for each side of the pitch at a throw-in.
