How high does a Pro Clubs average rating actually go?
The ceiling everybody quotes belongs to one match. Averaged over a career the top of this archive sits a long way under it, and the gap is the whole answer.
Measured hereUpdated 24 August 2026 · from 415 archived players
Measured across archived players with at least three full matches. It is a long way under the ten that people picture when they ask how high this goes.
Ten is a match, and an average is a career
EA scores each match out of ten, and ten happens. Somebody scores four, keeps the ball, wins every duel, and the number lands perfect. Then they play again. An average is a mean over everything you have done, so one perfect night is diluted by the Tuesday you were tired and the game where the keeper disconnected.
The longer you play, the harder your own history pulls. A player forty matches deep is anchored by those forty. That is why a career average close to ten is not a difficult achievement so much as an arithmetic one, and why the screenshots showing it are almost always three games old.
Where the top of the field actually sits
Nine players in ten sit below 8.23. Nineteen in twenty sit below 8.56. Ninety-nine in a hundred sit below 9.12, and the space above that holds very few people, most of whom have played hundreds of games to get there.
Notice how little room there is between those three. The distance from ordinary to the top one per cent is smaller than the distance most people assume, which is what makes an inflated claim easy to spot once you know the shape.
Why no maximum is published here
You could compute the single best career average in this archive. It would be useless. The holder would be somebody three matches deep who had a good week, because the shortest record always wins a contest scored on means, and printing that figure would turn an accident into a target.
Cut points behave. A ninety-ninth percentile is stable across a population of hundreds of thousands and it answers the question you meant: how far along the field am I. A maximum answers who got lucky recently.
The ceiling moves with the position
Not enough archived players in each position yet to compare their tops.
So a keeper reading a whole-archive figure is reading somebody else’s bar. Compare against your own position or the comparison tells you nothing.
If you meant your overall
Two numbers answer to the word rating and they are unrelated. The overall on your pro comes from the build you made. The match rating is what EA gives you out of ten once the whistle goes, and it is the one this page and every percentile on this site is about.
Questions people ask
- How high does a Pro Clubs average rating go?
- 8.56 clears nineteen players in twenty, and 9.12 clears ninety-nine in a hundred. Very few people sit above that, and most of them have hundreds of matches behind the figure.
- Can you average 10.0 in Pro Clubs?
- One match can be scored 10.0. An average of it cannot be held for long, because the mean drags every good night back towards the ordinary ones you also played. The more games you have, the harder your own history pulls.
- What is the highest rating anybody on this site has?
- This site publishes cut points and no maximum, on purpose. The best career average in any archive belongs to somebody three matches deep who has had a good week, and printing that figure would make it look like a target.
- Is the top rating the same for a goalkeeper and a forward?
- Not enough archived players in each position yet to compare the two tops honestly.
- Is my overall the same thing as my average rating?
- No. Your overall is a number on your pro, set by the build. The average rating is what EA scores you out of ten once the match is over, and searching for a maximum turns up both.
