What are all 13 Archetypes in EA FC 26 Clubs?

Most lists of these are copied between sites and disagree with each other. This one comes from EA’s own notes, and says plainly where EA stops and inference starts.

13
Archetypes, all named by EA

Two goalkeepers, four defenders, four midfielders and three attackers. The names below are EA’s, taken from their own notes rather than from another list.

All 13, and the PlayStyle each one gained

EA listed these when a fourth Signature PlayStyle was added to every Archetype. It is the only place they appear as text rather than inside an image, which is why so many lists of them are wrong.

* EA confirms the split — two goalkeepers, four defenders, four midfielders, three attackers — and names all thirteen, but does not print which name sits in which group. Those marked are read from the order EA lists them in, which matches that split exactly. The two keepers are unambiguous. Treat the rest as very likely rather than confirmed.

What an Archetype actually decides

It replaces the skill tree. Rather than spending points where you like, you pick a template up front and it sets what your pro is good at, which Signature PlayStyles and Perks you can unlock, and how it develops. Each one also carries its own height and weight range, so the extreme builds of previous years are only reachable if the Archetype allows them.

That makes the choice heavier than picking a position used to be. A Recycler and a Maestro are both midfielders and are not the same player in any respect that matters.

Which is best?

Nobody knows, including the sites ranking them. EA has published no performance data by Archetype, and no tracker — this one included — can see your Archetype in the API, so there is nothing to measure it against. Any tier list you read is somebody’s impression after a few nights.

What is worth doing instead: pick the one that matches how you already play, then look at your own numbers here to see whether the pitch agrees.

Questions people ask

How many Archetypes are there in FC 26 Clubs?
Thirteen. EA describes them as 13 distinct player Archetypes, each inspired by an ICON of world football, split as two goalkeepers, four defenders, four midfielders and three attackers.
What are all 13 Archetypes called?
Shot Stopper, Sweeper Keeper, Progressor, Boss, Engine, Marauder, Recycler, Maestro, Creator, Spark, Magician, Finisher and Target. All thirteen are named in EA’s own Pitch Notes, alongside the fourth Signature PlayStyle each one received.
Which Archetype is best?
EA has published no data that would answer that, and neither has anyone else — the lists claiming a best build are opinion. What is knowable is what each Archetype is built to do, which is what this page covers.
Can you change Archetype later?
EA has not stated a restriction in the notes covered here. Treat any claim that you are locked in as unverified until EA says so.
