Why are your crosses less accurate in FC 26 Pro Clubs?

Your Crossing attribute is doing what it always did. EA put error on top of it, said so in writing, and gave the reason.

From EAUpdated 1 September 2026

Competitive
the preset Clubs is locked to

It is the one EA added crossing variability to, on purpose, and there is no setting that turns it off.

The error was added deliberately

EA lists increased variability on crosses among the differences in Competitive gameplay, and states the reason in the same line: it wanted player skill to count for more than repetitive wide play. Your Crossing attribute is doing what it always did. Something was put on top of it.

Clubs runs Competitive and cannot leave it. The preset is locked in Clubs, Ultimate Team, Online Seasons and Online Friendlies, and the toggle exists only in Kick-Off and Career Mode. So every player in every Clubs match is crossing under the same tuning as you.

The same patch made one cross better

Two changes went the other way. EA adjusted crosses to lead further in front of the target, and increased their accuracy in what it calls easy contexts.

It has never published what an easy context is. Reading the change beside the rest of the notes, the shape it describes is a ball played early into space ahead of a runner, with the crosser set and unpressed. The hard one is the whipped ball from a standing start with a defender on your shoulder.

So the cross that got better is the one you play before the box fills up. That is also the cross the new attacking run logic gives you more targets for, since a Winger can now cut inside and a Wingback can push past you into the space you were going to fill.

Nobody counts whether it arrived

There is no cross completion figure in Pro Clubs. EA records none, the endpoint a tracker reads carries none, and the post-match screen shows a count with no outcome attached to it. A ball that picked out a header and a ball that hit the first defender are one event in every measurement that exists.

That is worth saying plainly because it is the honest answer to whether your crossing is bad. Nobody can tell you from data. Anybody who says they can is reading a volume count and calling it a quality one.

The archive has no cross distribution yet, so there is no median to put beside that.

What to do about it

Cross earlier, and cross into a run instead of into bodies. The change EA made rewards the ball played in front of somebody already moving, and punishes the hopeful one repeated from the same spot every attack.

Then check the end of it. Heading error is higher in Competitive than in Authentic, so the contest in the box is looser than the delivery, and the headers guide covers the Box Out and the two heading PlayStyles that decide it.

If your crosses keep finding nobody and your assists stay flat, the answer is a different pass. Come inside, take the shorter ball, wait for a second body. Repeating the cross harder has no published mechanism behind it this year.

Questions people ask

Why are your crosses less accurate in FC 26 Pro Clubs?
EA increased the variability of crosses in Competitive gameplay, and gave the reason: it wanted player skill to matter more than repeated wide play. Clubs runs Competitive and has no setting to change that.
Can you turn the crossing variability off in Clubs?
No. Competitive gameplay is locked in Clubs, Ultimate Team, Online Seasons and Online Friendlies. The toggle exists only in Kick-Off and Career Mode, neither of which is where you play Clubs.
Did crossing get better in any way in FC 26?
Yes, in two ways EA published. Crosses lead further in front of the target than they did, and accuracy went up in what EA calls easy contexts. It has never said which contexts those are.
Can a tracker tell whether your cross found a teammate?
No, and neither can EA. There is no cross completion figure anywhere in Pro Clubs, so a ball that picked out a header and one that hit the first defender are the same event in every count that exists.
How many crosses does a typical Pro Clubs player put in?
Not enough archived players with decoded counters yet to give a median worth printing.

Measured from 109,638 players and 45,761 matches, kept since 17 September 2026. EA returns the last ten. Look up your own club and see where you land.
