How do you change your Archetype in FC 26 Clubs?
Nothing is reset when you switch. You are not undoing a build, you are starting a second one at level 1, and the first keeps every level you gave it.
From EAUpdated 17 August 2026
Switching to one of the others does not undo the build you have. It starts a second one at level 1 and leaves the first exactly where it was.
There is nothing to reset
People search for how to reset an Archetype, and the word is the problem. EA says each Archetype progresses separately. Leave one and it keeps its level, waiting, for the day you come back to it.
What a switch costs is time. The build you move to opens at level 1 and has to be played up on its own, so the real question is not whether you lose anything. It is how many matches you are willing to spend twice.
Getting the other twelve
Your first Archetype is chosen when you enter Clubs. EA says the other 12 come from Clubs Coins, FC Points, or Archetype Unlock consumable items, which means one of them is earned and one of them is bought.
The menu path players report is the Clubs menu, into your pro, then the Archetypes screen, where you highlight the one you want for your next match. EA has not published that path, so it is here as what people describe rather than as something confirmed.
What you would be switching into
Measured across 391 archived players, grouped by the build EA stamps on every match row. Not what an Archetype is meant to do. What the people playing it record.
| Archetype | Goals / 90 | Assists / 90 | Rating | Players |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Finisher | 1.01 | 0.53 | 7.6 | 61 |
| Boss | 0.10 | 0.04 | 7.3 | 59 |
| Maestro | 0.19 | 0.34 | 7.7 | 55 |
| Magician | 0.84 | 0.78 | 7.4 | 40 |
| Recycler | 0.03 | 0.05 | 7.6 | 32 |
| Creator | 0.25 | 0.60 | 7.5 | 32 |
| Progressor | 0.07 | 0.12 | 7.4 | 30 |
| Marauder | 0.02 | 0.05 | 7.3 | 30 |
| Spark | 0.55 | 0.45 | 7.4 | 27 |
| Engine | 0.08 | 0.05 | 7.5 | 25 |
Builds with fewer than 20 archived players are left out rather than printed thin. Ratings are not comparable across positions, so read a keeper’s figure against the other keeper and never against a forward.
When switching is worth it
Early, when you have little to lose. Ten matches into a build is a cheap place to change your mind, and forty is not.
The tier list on this site orders all 13 by win rate, and the spread between top and bottom is a few points. A build you have levelled beats a better build at level 1, so chasing the top of that table late in a season is usually the worse move. Switch because your club has nobody doing a job, not because a table put your Archetype fourth.

Questions people ask
- Does changing your Archetype reset your progress?
- No. EA says each Archetype progresses separately, so the one you leave keeps the level you took it to. What you lose is time, because the one you move to begins at level 1 and has to be played up on its own.
- How many Archetypes can you unlock in FC 26 Clubs?
- All 13. You choose the first when you enter Clubs, and EA says the remaining 12 come from Clubs Coins, FC Points, or Archetype Unlock consumable items.
- Where do you switch Archetype in the menus?
- From the Clubs menu into your pro, then the Archetypes screen, where the ones you hold are listed and you pick the one for your next match. EA has not published that path, so treat it as what players report rather than as official.
- Should you switch to the Archetype with the best win rate?
- Only if you are early. A build you have levelled is worth more than a point of win rate on a build at level 1, and the gap between the best and worst Archetypes in the measured tier list is a few points rather than a division.
