How do you do a low driven shot in FC 26?
The button you used to time is doing something else this year. Press it twice and you get a low driven shot, on almost everything.

Hold to power up, then press again before contact. It works on everything except a chip.
Low driven is a modifier now
In FC 26 you get a low driven shot by double-tapping shoot. EA made it a global modifier this year, so it no longer arrives on its own when your shot power happens to land in the right band. You choose it.
Powering up first still matters. Hold the shot button as usual, and press it once more before your player makes contact. The second press is what flattens the shot.
Every input EA published
| Shot | PlayStation | Xbox |
|---|---|---|
| Low driven lace | Circle, then circle | B, then B |
| Low driven finesse | R1 and circle, then circle | RB and B, then B |
| Low driven trivela | L2 and circle, then circle | LT and B, then B |
| Low driven power shot | L1, R1 and circle, then circle | LB, RB and B, then B |
| Low driven volley | Circle, then circle, in the air | B, then B, in the air |
| Low driven header | Circle, then circle, on the jump | B, then B, on the jump |
The trivela row has a condition on it. That shot needs the Gamechanger PlayStyle in FC 26, and a Pro without it plays a lace shot when you ask for one.
Timed Finishing is gone
The second press used to be a timing test. It is not one any more, and there is no green bar to hit, because EA removed Timed Finishing when it gave the input to low driven instead. If you are still tapping for a perfect strike, you have been asking for a different shot every time.
EA gave its reasons. The mechanic did not add meaningful skill depth, proved difficult to balance, rewarded long-range shots out of proportion, and felt inconsistent under pressure. Removing it, EA says, lets shooting produce more consistent outcomes, with the skill gap moving to aim, power control and shot selection.
Free kicks were retuned as part of the same change. EA adjusted their trajectories after the removal, so a routine that used to go in from thirty yards is worth testing again in the practice arena.
What else changed about shooting
Close-range shots got faster. EA says shots near the net now use more reactive animations with minimal wind-up, and that the range of angles a shot animation covers was widened. A ball behind you at the far post is a shot this year more often than it was.
Finesse from distance got worse on purpose. In the launch update EA reduced the top spin on finesse shots taken from outside the box, because they were lobbing keepers too easily. That change went in for early access, so it has been live since the game opened.
Nobody can tell you which shot scores more
EA publishes no conversion figure by shot type and no archive can build one. A match sends a goal count and a shot count, so a low driven finish, a chip and a header all land in the same two numbers. The table below is every shot in this archive pooled together.
| You are better than | Shots scored, % |
|---|---|
| 50% of players | 9.1 |
| 60% of players | 29.4 |
| 70% of players | 40.0 |
| 80% of players | 50.0 |
| 90% of players | 66.7 |
| 95% of players | 83.3 |
| 99% of players | 100.0 |
That is still a useful floor for judging yourself, and it was measured here instead of repeated from somewhere else. Just do not let anyone sell you a shot type on a percentage that no data anywhere supports.

Questions people ask
- How do you do a low driven shot in FC 26?
- Hold the shot button to power up, then press it again before your player strikes. Circle and circle on PlayStation, B and B on Xbox. Every shot type takes it except a chip.
- Is Timed Finishing still in FC 26?
- It is gone. EA removed it, so the second press of the shot button now applies the low driven modifier and there is nothing being timed. The green bar has no equivalent this year.
- Why did EA remove Timed Finishing?
- EA says it did not add meaningful skill depth and proved hard to balance. It rewarded long-range shots out of proportion and felt inconsistent in the moments that mattered most.
- Can you do a low driven finesse or a low driven volley?
- Both, yes. Add the usual modifier first: R1 or RB for finesse, L1 with R1 or LB with RB for a power shot. Then power up and press the shot button a second time.
- Do low driven shots go in more often?
- EA has published no figure for it. This archive can say that the median player scores with 9.1% of their shots, and that every shot type lands in the same pair of counters, so no tracker anywhere can split a low driven finish out.
