Why does dribbling feel different in FC 26 Pro Clubs?
Dribbling was not slowed down this year. It was retuned from the animation up, and one of the two ways you used to do it no longer exists.
From EAUpdated 1 September 2026
Every dribbling animation in the game was retuned for it, and one of the two inputs you used to reach for was deleted outright.
What actually changed
EA re-evaluated the whole dribbling animation library for FC 26, aiming at consistency, speed and responsiveness across every move in it. The stated goal was to stop you feeling locked into an animation once it starts, so transitions and branching were rebuilt alongside the animations themselves.
Dribble touch intervals were retuned too. That is how close your player keeps the ball between touches, and the interval is different in Competitive from what it is in Authentic. Clubs only runs one of those.
The jog dribble is faster. EA increased its speed and reworked the logic deciding which direction the ball goes, because players kept ending up at a pace they had not asked for.
EA tags Dynamic Dribbling as a new generation feature. It is on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC. A club running on PS4 or Xbox One is playing the same match with the old dribbling under it.
Your height is part of the dribbling system now
EA adjusted animation consistency and speed by player height, to balance how tall and short players perform on the ball. Height already decides which acceleration type you get and already nudges a few attributes at kick-off. This is a third thing a centimetre buys you, and it is settled before you spend a single Attribute Point.
Each Archetype comes with its own height range, and you pick inside it. So the ceiling on this is set by the Archetype you unlocked, and moving it means moving Archetype.
Foot preference was reworked in the same pass. EA changed the logic and the animation branching that goes with it, which is the part a left-footed player carrying the ball across their body will feel first.
Effort touches, on the turns that matter
Effort Touch animations now fire during drastic dribble turns. EA added them to make a hard change of direction faster, so the sharp turn out of a press is the one place you should notice the new system without looking for it.
Ordinary turns were sped up as well, along with swivel turns and the deceleration that precedes both. Stopping is snappier this year.
The grip that is gone
Agile Dribbling has been removed. L2 and R2 together does nothing, the contextual version went with it, and so did the menu setting. EA gave low usage as the reason and named a second one: the shielding controls needed that button to themselves.
If your hands still roll into that grip you are asking for a shield. The shielding guide covers what L2 does with its new job.
What the archive counts
Completed dribbles arrive in the block of numbered counters EA sends with every match and labels nowhere. Nothing on the player card holds them and no season total keeps them, so this distribution is built from matches archived before they rotated away.
Built from the archived players whose matches arrived with counters. Rebuilt daily.
There are not enough measured players yet for a median worth printing.
So the number is a description of a job. A winger and a centre-back are being counted on the same axis and there is no version of this figure where they should match.

Questions people ask
- Why does dribbling feel different in FC 26 Pro Clubs?
- EA calls the new system Dynamic Dribbling. It retuned the whole dribbling animation library, changed how close the ball sits to your feet between touches, sped up the jog dribble, and improved animation branching so you spend less time locked into a move. EA tags it as a new generation feature, so PS4 and Xbox One keep the old dribbling.
- Is Agile Dribbling still in FC 26?
- No. The L2 and R2 grip is gone, along with the contextual version and its menu setting. EA gave two reasons: almost nobody used it, and the shielding controls needed the button to themselves.
- Does your height change how you dribble in FC 26?
- EA adjusted animation consistency and speed by player height, to balance how tall and short players perform. Your Archetype sets the height range you can pick inside, so this is decided before you spend a single Attribute Point.
- Does dribbling work the same in Clubs as in Career Mode?
- No. EA says the interval between dribble touches varies between the Competitive and Authentic presets. Clubs is locked to Competitive, which is also tuned for tighter control and more speed on the ball.
- How many dribbles does an average Pro Clubs player complete?
- Not enough archived players with decoded counters yet to answer that honestly.
Measured from 111,194 players and 46,975 matches, kept since 17 September 2026. EA returns the last ten. Look up your own club and see where you land.
