What changed in EA FC 26 Pro Clubs?

FC 26 reset how a Virtual Pro is built. Archetypes replaced the skill tree, you can hold three clubs, and the level cap moves during the season. Here is what is different.

Archetypes, replacing the skill tree

Each one inspired by an ICON of world football, across goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward. Your Archetype decides what your pro is good at and how it grows.

Archetypes instead of a skill tree

The old free-form tree let two players at the same position build completely different pros. FC 26 replaces it with a template you choose up front. It is a narrower decision made earlier, and it matters more: the Archetype, not the position, is what your pro turns out to be.

Height and weight are inside the build now

Each Archetype carries its own height and weight range, and EA says moving within that range has a minor effect on a small number of attributes. The extreme builds of previous years — the very short, very light winger — are no longer reachable from every position, because the range belongs to the Archetype rather than to you.

Level 50, then more

The cap is level 50 at launch and EA says it rises through the season. Hitting it early is not the end of progression, which is a change from treating max level as a finish line.

Three clubs at once

The other structural change: you can belong to three clubs and switch freely, with Rush and Playoffs rewards going to a single favourite.

Questions people ask

What are Archetypes in FC 26 Clubs?
EA describes 13 distinct player Archetypes, each inspired by an ICON of world football, covering goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward. An Archetype sets what your pro is good at and how it grows, in place of the free-form skill tree earlier editions used.
Does height and weight still matter?
Yes, but within limits. EA gives each Archetype its own height and weight range, and says moving within that range has a minor impact on a small number of attributes. It is no longer a universal setting you can push to extremes.
What is the level cap in FC 26 Clubs?
Level 50 at launch, and EA says the maximum increases as the season goes on. So a cap you hit early is not the end of progression.
How many clubs can you join?
Three at a time, switching freely between them — though Rush and Playoffs rewards only accrue to the one club you set as your favourite.
