How does Clubs Rush work in FC 26?

Most of the confusion about this mode is one setting. Knowing where it is saves you the evenings spent waiting in a lobby for a keeper who is not coming.

5
the maximum Clubs Rush lobby in FC 26

One of those five has to be on a goalkeeper Archetype before the match will start. That requirement is a setting, and you can turn it off.

The keeper rule, and the setting that removes it

The lobby holds five now, which is an increase this year. To proceed to a match, one player has to be using a goalkeeper Archetype. If nobody in your group wants that job, you are not stuck waiting.

Turn off the Find GK setting inside the Clubs Rush lobby. This is the single most useful thing to know about the mode, and it is the reason people sit for twenty minutes waiting on a keeper who was never going to arrive.

You can start short

A full squad is not required. With two human players as a minimum you can go ahead, and AI team-mates fill the rest of the side. So a pair of you on a weeknight is a working session rather than a wait for three more people to come online.

Worth knowing what those AI team-mates are, too. Your club now spends its facility budget across Player Facilities and AI Facilities, and the AI side is grouped by position. A club that has put nothing into AI Facilities is fielding a weaker set of stand ins than one that has, and in a short sided mode you notice.

Keepers can play on the Rush pitch now

Be a Goalkeeper players can test themselves on the Rush pitch in FC 26, and Clubs Rush is the only place it happens. If you play in goal and had written this mode off in previous years, that changed.

It also explains why the keeper requirement exists rather than making it arbitrary. The mode was built expecting one, and the setting is there for the nights when you do not have one available.

Talking to people you cannot hear

Quick Chat gives you four categories of four messages. In a five a side game with strangers that is most of your communication, and using it well is a genuine advantage over a lobby that says nothing.

Call for the ball and acknowledge a pass. Two messages, used consistently, change how a lobby of strangers plays with you within a couple of minutes.

Rewards follow one club, not all three

You can be a member of up to three clubs now and switch between them freely. Clubs Rush rewards do not follow you around all three. They are earned on behalf of a single favourite club, chosen from the Switch Clubs screen.

You can change which club that is at any point during the season. What you cannot do is change it afterwards, because rewards are distributed at the end of the season against whatever was set at the time. Playing all your Rush games for one club and having the favourite pointed at another is a season of rewards going somewhere you did not intend.

Check the Switch Clubs screen before a season ends rather than after. This is the setting people find out about by losing something.

What EA has not published

Pitch size and match length are not in the Clubs deep dive. Anything stating them precisely comes from somebody timing their own games, which is reasonable and is not the same as a published figure.

The same goes for how the AI team-mates are tuned. EA has said the facilities affect them and has not said by how much, so treat any exact claim about that with the usual suspicion.

Questions people ask

Up to five, which is an increase in FC 26. One of them has to be using a goalkeeper Archetype for the match to go ahead.
What if nobody wants to play in goal?

Yes. With two human players minimum you can go ahead and AI team-mates fill the rest.
Can a Be-A-Goalkeeper player use the Rush pitch?
In FC 26 they can, and Clubs Rush is the only place it happens. That is new this year.
