What are Clubs Rush Live Events in FC 26?

These are the only place some rules exist at all. Designated Scorer and Rugby Rush do not appear anywhere else in the game.

4
the maximum number of Rush knockout rounds in a Live Event

Single elimination, played on a limited number of attempts. Lose a match and you go back to the first round rather than out of the event.

How the format works

A Live Event is a knockout run of up to four Rush rounds. Win a match and you go through to the next round. Lose one and it costs an attempt, and you start again from the first round rather than continuing where you were.

You begin with a limited number of attempts, and EA has said some events restore them. So the event ends when your attempts run out, not on your first defeat, and a bad opening match is recoverable in a way a straight bracket would never be.

Why attempts change how you play

On a normal night a loss costs you a loss. Here it costs progress, because you drop back to the first round and have to win your way up again. That makes the later rounds worth more caution than the early ones, which is the opposite of how most people play a knockout.

Think about what a defeat in round three actually costs. Not one match. Three matches you already won, which have to be won again before you are back where you were. That is the maths worth having in your head when you are two goals up and thinking about pushing on.

It is also an argument for going in with a settled group rather than whoever happens to be online. The format punishes a slow start harder than it punishes a weaker squad.

The rules change, and only here

Live Events run flexible rule sets, and two EA has named are Designated Scorer and Rugby Rush. Both are exclusive to Clubs Rush Live Events. There is no queue you can join to play them the rest of the time, and they leave with the event.

That is the argument for turning up to one even if the reward does not interest you. It is the only place some of this game exists at all.

Read the rules before the first whistle

A rule set that changes who is allowed to score changes everything about how a side should set up. Working that out during your first match costs an attempt, and attempts are the currency of the whole event.

Spend two minutes on the event screen before you queue. It is the cheapest advantage available and most lobbies do not bother.

Make sure the rewards land on the right club

Clubs Rush rewards are earned for one favourite club, set on the Switch Clubs screen, and you can be in three clubs at once. A Live Event run is exactly the kind of effort worth checking that setting before, because the rewards go out at the end of the season against whatever it said then.

Change it whenever you like during the season. Just make sure it is pointing where you want before the season closes, because that is the moment it is read.

What is not published

EA has not said how many attempts an event starts with, which events restore them, or how often Live Events run. Those are things you find out from the event itself.

Nor has EA published the full list of flexible rule sets. Designated Scorer and Rugby Rush are the two named, and anything else you see listed came from somebody who played it rather than from the notes.

Questions people ask

How long is a Clubs Rush Live Event?
A maximum of four Rush knockout rounds. It is single elimination, so the run ends when you lose rather than continuing in a lower bracket.
What happens when you lose a Live Event match?
It costs one of your attempts and sends you back to the first round. You do not lose the event outright until the attempts are gone.
What are Designated Scorer and Rugby Rush?
Flexible rule sets EA runs inside Clubs Rush Live Events. They are exclusive to those events, so they are not something you can queue for normally.
Do Live Events use the normal Rush rules?
Not always, and that is the point of them. The rule set is part of the event rather than fixed.
