What difficulty is FC 26 Pro Clubs on?
If the game feels harder than last year and you cannot find the setting that changed, this is it. There is no setting, and that is deliberate.
From EAUpdated 21 August 2026
It is locked on for every match in the mode. If the game feels less helpful than last year, this is the reason, and there is nothing to change.
There is no difficulty to pick
People search for the difficulty setting in Clubs and cannot find it, which is correct behaviour rather than a bug. Competitive Gameplay is mandatory in FC 26 Clubs. Everybody is on the same ruleset and nobody has a slider.
EA gives the reason as cutting the impact of randomness and assistance, with three stated priorities: responsiveness, consistency and control. Read that as the game doing more of what you asked and less of what it assumed you meant.
What actually changed
There is less AI defending, which produces looser defensive lines. There are fewer auto tackles and fewer auto blocks. Animations are faster and the game is more responsive. Fatigue was redesigned as well, and in Clubs that means the long-term half stopped building up while the short-term bar still empties as it always did.
Put together, that is a game where space your team-mates used to cover is now space somebody has to go and cover. If your club has felt open at the back this year without anybody obviously playing worse, that is the change you are feeling rather than a decline.
The correction
Fewer auto tackles does not mean tackling is broken. It means the tackles you used to get without asking are now tackles you have to make. The input that was being made for you is the input you are missing, and it feels identical to the game ignoring you.
Worth saying to a club that has started blaming the connection for goals conceded. Less assistance looks exactly like lag if you are not expecting it.
What it means for how you play
Defensive positioning matters more than it did, because less of it is being done for you. The player who holds a shape is worth more than the player who chases, and that has quietly changed which of your team-mates are actually helping.
It also rewards deciding earlier. Faster animations and better responsiveness mean your input arrives sooner, so hesitating costs more than it used to. Players who commit late feel slower this year even when they are doing the same things.
And because long-term fatigue no longer builds in Clubs, a long match has stopped being the excuse it once was. Your pro is as quick at ninety minutes as at nine, provided you have left the sprint bar something to give.
How this reads against your stats
If your tackle numbers dropped this year, check whether you are actually tackling less or whether you were being credited for tackles the game made. Both look the same in a season total and only one is about you.
The same applies to goals conceded across a club. A defence that has not changed can concede more simply because the cover behind it stopped being automatic.
Questions people ask
- What difficulty is FC 26 Pro Clubs?
- Clubs runs on Competitive Gameplay and it is mandatory. There is no difficulty slider to change, so everybody is playing the same ruleset.
- What does Competitive Gameplay actually change?

- Why does it feel like your team-mates defend less?
- Because they do. Reducing AI defending is one of the stated changes, so space that used to be covered for you now has to be covered by somebody.
- Can you turn Competitive Gameplay off in Clubs?
- No. EA locked it on for Clubs to cut down on randomness and assistance, and that applies to every match in the mode.
