How many shots per game is good in Pro Clubs?
Shot volume is the easiest attacking stat to inflate and the easiest to misread. Here is the measured distribution, and the reason a big number can be the worst sign on the board.

Split by position
A defender and a striker are not deciding whether to shoot in the same moments, so the same figure means opposite things about them.

Volume is the easiest stat to inflate
Shot count records that you decided to shoot. It says nothing about whether the chance was worth taking, and there is no expected-goals figure in Pro Clubs to supply the difference. A player near the top of this distribution is often shooting from range because the pass never came — the volume is a symptom of the team, not a verdict on the player.
The axis that separates a finisher from somebody who simply shoots a lot is conversion: the share of those shots that went in. Neither number is worth much alone, and together they are the clearest read on a forward the archive can give.
What EA does not record
There is no shots-on-target split, no blocked-shot count, no big-chances-missed and no expected goals. EA reports how many shots you took and how many goals you scored, so everything anybody can honestly say about shot quality comes from those two numbers.
Questions people ask
- How many shots per game is good in Pro Clubs?
- Measured across the archive, the median player takes 0.36 shots per 90 minutes, and the top ten per cent take 2.71 or more. Position moves this more than ability does, so a defender near the median is doing something very different from a striker on the same figure.
- Is taking more shots better?
- Not on its own. Shot count says how often you decided to shoot, not how good the chances were. A player with a high count and a low conversion is usually shooting from range because nobody is passing — the volume is a symptom, not an achievement. Read it beside conversion, which is the axis that separates a finisher from somebody who shoots.
- Does EA count blocked or off-target shots?
- EA reports a shot total and nothing about where the shots went. There is no shots-on-target split, no blocked count and no expected-goals figure, so the only thing that can be said about shot quality is how many of them were scored.
