What are Specializations in FC 26 Pro Clubs?
This is the part of the build screen people skip, and it is the one that changes what your player is for rather than how good it is at the same job.

This is the part of the build screen that changes what your player is for, rather than making it better at the same job.
What a Specialization is
Each of the thirteen Archetypes has three of them. They are variants of that Archetype rather than separate builds, so taking one is not starting again. You can have one active at a time, and switching which is active is a change of setting rather than a rebuild.
Taking one gives you two things. An extra Signature Perk, which is the third slot most players never fill. And an additional Signature PlayStyle+, which matters more than it sounds: the PlayStyles you pick and equip yourself stay ordinary at every level, so the only route to another plus is through your Archetype or through this.
You unlock it by spending, not by playing
A Specialization sits behind specific attributes. You reach it by upgrading those attributes, which means the route to each of the three is different, and where your points went decides which are in range today.
That is worth planning around rather than discovering. Two players on the same Archetype at the same level can have different Specializations available, purely because of how they spent. Spreading points evenly is the reliable way to end up close to all three and qualified for none of them.
Since the AP cost of an attribute climbs as it rises, the cheapest Specialization to reach is usually the one built on attributes you were raising anyway. Work out which that is before you spend, not after.
The worked example EA gave
Turning a Maestro into a Crasher grants First Touch+ and the Box Crash perk. Read what that does to the player rather than what it adds to the card. A Maestro is a midfielder who controls the game in front of you. A Crasher is one arriving in the box, and both of the things it gains are about being there when the ball is.
First Touch+ is there to kill a pass arriving at speed in a crowded area. Box Crash is there for the run that gets you into it. Neither is much use to a Maestro who never leaves the middle third, which is the point: a Specialization is a decision about where you play, not a free upgrade.
A Specialization that fights your habits is one you will not trigger. The extra perk still needs its action to happen, and a perk that never fires is a slot you unlocked for nothing.
How to pick one
Start from the games you actually play rather than the ceiling you imagine. The three variants describe three different jobs, and the one that suits the job your club gives you on a Tuesday night will fire far more often than the one that suits the clip you want to post.
Then count the cost honestly. If a Specialization asks you to push an attribute you would otherwise leave alone, those are real points spent on qualifying rather than on playing, and the perk it hands back has to earn them. Sometimes it does. Often the cheaper variant is the better trade.
What is not published
EA has named exactly one of the thirty nine Specializations in the Clubs notes. Crasher is the worked example and the rest appear without description, so anybody presenting you with a complete list has built it from the in game screens rather than from EA.
That is not a reason to distrust the list. It is a reason to check it against your own build screen before you spend points chasing something somebody else reported.
Questions people ask
- How many Specializations does each Archetype have?
- Three. They are variants of the Archetype rather than separate builds, and you can have one equipped at a time.
- How do you unlock a Specialization?
- By upgrading specific attributes on that Archetype. The requirement is attached to the Specialization, so the route to each of the three is different.
- What does a Specialization actually give you?
- An extra Signature Perk and an additional Signature PlayStyle+. EA gives turning a Maestro into a Crasher as the example, which grants First Touch+ and the Box Crash perk.
- Can you switch Specialization later?
- You equip one at a time, so switching is a matter of changing which is active rather than starting again.
